Supermodel Kate Moss's Daughter, Lila, Launches First Ever Barbie Doll With Type 1 Diabetes

There’s a new Barbie in town—and she’s wearing an insulin pump.

Barbie just made a bold and meaningful move by launching its very first doll with type 1 diabetes, and it’s already making waves in the T1D community. At the heart of this launch is 22-year-old Lila Moss, model, advocate, and daughter of supermodel Kate Moss. Lila, who lives with T1D, has been honored with her own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll—complete with a sleek black dress and her signature diabetes devices.

This isn’t just a fashion statement. It’s a statement about visibility, inclusion, and what it means for kids to see themselves represented in the toys they play with.

Barbie’s new T1D doll comes with a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), an insulin pump, and other realistic accessories—details that will feel familiar to any child managing diabetes. The launch was developed in collaboration with Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), ensuring the doll’s medical accuracy reflects real life.

And yes—Barbie still brings the style. The new T1D doll wears a chic blue polka dot outfit, a design choice that nods to the global symbols of diabetes awareness: the color blue and the circle motif.

Why this matters

Representation isn’t just about inclusion—it’s about empowerment. For kids living with type 1 diabetes, this Barbie sends a powerful message: you're seen, you matter, and nothing about your diagnosis should ever limit your dreams.

And for everyone else? It’s a beautiful reminder that diversity—especially in health—is something worth celebrating in every aisle of the toy store.
