A major win has arrived for patients with diabetes in Arizona. Senate Bill 1132 (SB1132)—signed into law this year—requires AHCCCS health plans to offer continuous glucose monitor (CGM) coverage under both the pharmacy benefit and the durable medical equipment (DME) benefit.
What SB1132 Means for Patients on Health Choice Arizona
Historically, Health Choice AZ only allowed CGMs to be dispensed through the pharmacy. Now, with SB1132 in place, we’re seeing Health Choice begin to implement CGM coverage through DME—and that offers meaningful advantages for patients already receiving insulin pump supplies through Direct Diabetes.
Key benefits for patients:
✔ One vendor for pump + CGM supplies
No more juggling multiple suppliers or tracking multiple shipments. You can receive your pump supplies and CGMs in one place, from one specialized diabetes partner.
✔ No extra trip to the pharmacy
DME shipments are delivered directly to your home, saving time and improving convenience.
✔ Better adherence and fewer gaps in CGM use
Coordinated shipments make it easier to stay on schedule with sensor changes—helping you maintain stable glucose data and more consistent diabetes management.
✔ Local support from Arizona’s DME diabetes experts
Direct Diabetes has delivered diabetes supplies in Arizona for nearly 30 years. We know AHCCCS, we know Health Choice AZ, and we maintain 5-star Google Reviews thanks to our exceptional service and communication.
